Tesla Opening First Showroom in India on July 15 in Mumbai
Tesla is finally coming to India! The famous American electric car company will open its first showroom in India on July 15, 2025, in Mumbai at Jio World Drive in BKC.
For the first week, only VIP guests and business people can visit. After that, from the next week, everyone can go and see the showroom.
Tesla will also open a second showroom in Delhi by the end of July 2025.
First Car: Tesla Model Y
The first Tesla car coming to India is the Model Y. It will come from Tesla’s factory in China.
People can start booking the car next week. The first deliveries will happen by the end of August 2025.
The Model Y is very popular and is the best-selling electric car in the world. That is why Tesla chose it first for India.
Price in India
In China, the Model Y price is around ₹28 lakh ($32,270). But in India, it will be more expensive because of high import taxes (about 70%).
After adding all taxes, the price in India may be even higher than in the US, where it costs around ₹40 lakh ($46,630).
Special Features of Model Y
The Tesla Model Y is a mid-size electric SUV. It has many good features like:

- Back seats that can move back for comfort
- Automatic open/close boot
- Big 15.4-inch touchscreen in the front

The car can also charge very fast. It can get up to 293 km range in just 15 minutes if charged with Tesla’s special chargers.
Charging in India
In the US, Tesla has more than 70,000 special chargers (called Superchargers). But in India, there is no such network yet.
Tesla plans to build these chargers slowly, step by step, in India.
