Mahindra NU IQ Platform to Launch Multiple New ICE and EV SUVs – All You Need to Know

Mahindra Shows New SUV Platform

Mahindra has introduced a new platform called NU IQ at the Freedom NU event in Mumbai. This platform will be used to make many new SUVs in the coming years. Mahindra also showed four new concept cars – Vision X, Vision S, Vision T, and Vision SXT – all built on this new platform.

The first SUVs made on NU IQ will come around 2027.

Big and Spacious Inside

The NU IQ platform can be used for SUVs that are 3,990 mm to 4,320 mm long. Mahindra says it will give a lot of space inside, including:

  • 1,404 mm shoulder room
  • 937 mm legroom in the second row
  • 227 mm ground clearance for rough roads
  • Up to 644 litres of boot space

The floor inside will be completely flat, so it will be more comfortable for passengers and easier to carry luggage.

Can Use Petrol, Diesel or Electric

The NU IQ is modular, which means it can use different types of engines:

  • Petrol
  • Diesel
  • Hybrid
  • Electric

It will also allow front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending on the model.

Built for Safety and Comfort

The platform uses a five-link rear suspension with Mahindra’s DAVINCI damper system for a smooth and controlled ride. It is made for both left-hand and right-hand drive markets, so it can be sold in India and other countries.

For safety, it has a strong door frame for side impact protection. It meets Euro NCAP, ANCAP, and Global NCAP crash test standards, and Mahindra expects it to get five-star safety ratings.
