Hyundai Creta Crosses 1.2 Million Sales – Rules Midsize SUV Segment with Over 30% Share
The Hyundai Creta is one of the most loved SUVs in India. By the end of June 2025, it crossed 1.2 million total sales in the country. That means more than 12 lakh Cretas have been sold since it first came out in July 2015.
The Creta has now completed 10 years in India, and it has been the top-selling midsize SUV every single year since launch. Even with many new SUVs entering the market, Creta is still the favorite.
Creta’s Big Share in the Market
In the first half of 2025, the Creta was not just the best-selling SUV, but also the top-selling car overall in India in three out of six months.
Right now, the Creta makes up over 31% of all midsize SUV sales — that means 1 out of every 3 SUVs sold in this segment is a Creta.
Creta’s sales have grown a lot over the years:
- In 2016, it sold about 92,926 units
- In 2024, it sold 1,86,919 units — double the amount!
More First-Time Buyers Choosing Creta
Creta is also becoming popular with new car buyers. In 2020, only 12% of Creta buyers were buying their first car. But by 2024, this number rose to 29%.
Also, Creta models with sunroofs are in high demand — about 70% of Creta buyers in early 2025 picked a sunroof version.
