Honda Sales Breakdown July 2025: Elevate, Amaze, and City in Focus

Honda Cars India witnessed a 12 percent year-on-year decline in total dispatches during July 2025, reporting 4,050 units compared to 4,624 units in July 2024. The decline was mirrored on a month-on-month basis as well, with volumes dropping 12 percent from 4,618 units in June 2025. The primary contributors to this downward trend were the City and Amaze sedans, which have struggled amid shifting consumer preferences favoring SUVs.

The Amaze has traditionally been a volume leader for Honda in India but posted only 2,009 units in July 2025 – a 14 percent decline from 2,327 units a year earlier. Sequentially, it lost 12 percent compared to June 2025’s 2,274 units. As compact sedans face stiff competition from the growing SUV segment, the Amaze’s momentum has faltered.

Similarly, the midsize Honda City saw a significant sales drop, recording just 646 units in July 2025, down 32 percent from 957 units sold in the same month last year. Month-on-month figures show a 9 percent decline from June’s 709 units. Once a flagship for Honda, the City has been impacted by intense competition from midsize SUVs and shifting buyer preferences.

Providing some relief to Honda’s portfolio was the Elevate SUV, which recorded 1,395 units in July 2025, representing a 4 percent year-on-year increase over the 1,340 units sold in July 2024. However, the Elevate faced a 15 percent sequential decline from June’s 1,635 units dispatched. Despite incremental growth thanks to the Elevate, the overall sales performance was weighed down by declines in sedan sales.

The total sales picture underlines the challenges Honda faces in the highly competitive Indian passenger vehicle market, where SUVs continue to gain market share at the expense of sedans. Honda’s growing reliance on the Elevate and anticipated future SUV launches will be critical for improving volumes. Discounts and festive offers may also play a role in boosting sales during the peak buying period ahead.

Honda Model-Wise Sales in July 2025

ModelJuly 2025 SalesJuly 2024 SalesYoY Growth
Amaze2,0092,327-14%
City646957-32%
Elevate1,3951,340+4%
Total4,0504,624-12%

In conclusion, while the Elevate offers a glimmer of hope with positive year-on-year growth, the decline in Honda’s traditional sedan models such as the City and Amaze is offsetting these gains. As the SUV segment continues to expand rapidly in India, Honda’s strategic focus will likely shift toward strengthening its SUV lineup to regain volume growth. The coming festive season might bring promotions and discounts aimed at capitalizing on increased consumer spending, potentially aiding Honda’s sales recovery in the near term.
