Mahindra is getting ready to launch two new versions of its popular SUV – the updated 3-door Thar (petrol/diesel) and the Thar EV (electric version). Both cars are being tested and will be shown soon. Here are the key details:
New 3-Door Thar Facelift – What’s Changing?
Mahindra is testing the new 3-door Thar on roads. The car is covered in camouflage, but we can still see some of the changes:
Inside the Car:
- A big 10.25-inch touchscreen is added to the dashboard.
- The steering wheel looks new and modern.
- Power window buttons are now on the doors (before, they were in the middle).
- The gear area is also new, and it may get a wireless charging pad for phones.
Outside the Car:
- A new front bumper and new fog lamp area make the car look fresh.
- Small changes to the grille design.
- New C-shaped LED lights may be added.
- New alloy wheels will also be added.
The size and engine of the Thar will stay the same. It will still use the current petrol and diesel engines.
Thar EV – Mahindra’s Electric Off-Road SUV
Mahindra is also working on the Thar EV (electric version). It may be shown as the Vision.T concept on August 15, 2025, in Mumbai.
What to Expect:
- The Thar EV will look boxy and strong, like the Thar.e concept shown earlier.
- It will be built on a special EV platform called INGLO P1.
- This platform helps the car get:
- A longer wheelbase (more space inside)
- Higher ground clearance (better for rough roads)
Mahindra might use new body parts and design, different from other electric cars.
Launch Timeline
- The new 3-door Thar facelift will launch in early 2026.
- The Thar EV may launch in the next 1–2 years after the concept is shown.
- Mahindra will also show 4 more new concept vehicles and a new EV platform at the Freedom_NU event on August 15.
In Short
- Mahindra is working on a new 3-door Thar with better looks and more features.
- A Thar EV is also coming, which will be fully electric and off-road ready.
- More details will be shared at Mahindra’s big event in August 2025.
